چکیده

Fabricating and developing superhydrophobic anti-icing surfaces have been a research hotspot for eliminating undesired icing issues. Among various fabricating strategies, ultrafast laser micro-nano fabrication is regarded as greatly promising technique owing to its advantages of high geometric accuracy, highly flexible microstructure or dimension availability, no contact, material limitation. A number diverse micro-nanostructured developed by lasers demonstrated extraordinary properties. They are collectively known laser-fabricated (ULSASs). In this article, we reviewed the recent advances in ULSASs from structure performances potential applications. The surface wettability mechanisms first introduced, showing strong ability surfaces. Then deepened understanding relationship between superhydrophobicity icephobicity discussed detail, including Cassie–Baxter stability, durability environmental adaptability. Eventually, passive technique, passive/active combined their practical applications presented together with current challenges future prospects.

Anti-icing superhydrophobic coatings.

We use nanoparticle-polymer composites to demonstrate the anti-icing capability of superhydrophobic surfaces and report direct experimental evidence that such surfaces are able to prevent ice formation upon impact of supercooled water both in laboratory conditions and in natural environments. We find that the anti-icing capability of these composites depends not only on their superhydrophobicit...

Superhydrophobic and Anti-icing Coatings on Aluminium Alloy Surfaces

A superhydrophobic and anti-icing surface was prepared by consecutive immersion in boiling water and sputtering of polytetrafluoroethylene on the surface of an aluminium alloy substrate. The immersion time in boiling water plays an important role on the surface morphology and water repellency of the deposited RF-sputtered Teflon coating. The Teflon-like coating deposited on a rough surface achi...

Anti-Icing Superhydrophobic Surfaces: Controlling Entropic Molecular Interactions to Design Novel Icephobic Concrete

Tribology involves the study of friction, wear, lubrication, and adhesion, including biomimetic superhydrophobic and icephobic surfaces. The three aspects of icephobicity are the low ice adhesion, repulsion of incoming water droplets prior to freezing, and delayed frost formation. Although superhydrophobic surfaces are not always icephobic, the theoretical mechanisms behind icephobicity are sim...

Anti-bioadhesion on hierarchically structured, superhydrophobic surfaces.

We prepared hierarchically structured, superhydrophobic surfaces, with single-, dual-, and triple-scale roughness, via a layer-by-layer (LbL) particle deposition approach. The dual-/triple-scale structured, superhydrophobic surfaces exhibited significantly reduced protein adsorption (up to a 90% decrease). Furthermore, platelet adhesion and activation was completely suppressed on the triple-sca...
